"Really disappointed"

About: Lister House Surgery

I called the practice because I had mild UTI symptoms. I was advised they no longer needed to see patients for it as asked me to bring a urine sample. I received a call shortly after dropping off the sample requesting details of my symptoms. Later that day I received another call stating that my urine sample was clear although I ticked all the boxes of a potential infection.

I was really shocked that they suggested to get an over the counter medication and said to call back I quote "if you have severe back pain, a lot of blood in your urine and very high fever", if I wanted to be prescribed antibiotics. I followed the advice originally and took 2 days course of over the counter medication to alleviate my symptoms that were getting worse. I then walked to Boots to see a pharmacist who prescribed me with 3 day course antibiotics and I now feel better.

I am appalled that my own doctors couldn't do the same. I am frustrated that they are playing with people' lives by asking them to let their symptoms get worst. I cannot afford to be sick with 2 really young children and the fact that it was suggest by the doctors is very concerning.

I appreciate they need to cut costs, but play with people's lives is criminal.
