my sister was an elective admission to come in for surgery on the 24.10.2013. She was told to come in at 14:00hours. However on arrival there were no beds available and after visiting several other appointments and waited around, she was allocated to a medical bed at about 1:30pm. We were told on the morning of her operation that she will not return to that ward because it is a medical ward. She was brought to theatre about 9.30 and according to the team they finish the procedure about 11:30, since then she has being in recovery thoughit was declare fit for transfer because they are no beds in the hospital. I find this disgrace full and unacceptable that she need to stay overnight even though we ask to take her home. I was say some of the staff were a bit helpful in updating us butthis should not happen. It is now 19:26 and she is still in recovery and no beds still. St. Georges this is a total disgrace and some one need to address this issue.
