"Excellent service and I couldn't fault it"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I attended East Surrey Hospital mid March 2024 for an operation to remove a cataract. I'd  had one such operation in 2021 at Crawley Hospital and that also was dealt with in a similar very satisfactory way.

Even though I had had this operation, I was still nervous on having the second one. The reception from the staff was excellent and they were all determined to put all patients at their ease. Each stage of the procedure was explained and they all took time in doing this. The consultant doing the operation had introduced herself as had all the staff.

After the operation, care was taken to explain the follow up treatment.

When I got home, and after some hours, I was slightly concerned that my vision seemed a lot more blurred that it had for the first operation and I phoned the staff nurse. She was very reassuring and said  that she was sure that my sight would return properly but sometimes it might take a few days.

And that was what has happened. Today, my vision is almost back to normal - except that normal now is excellent. The nurse was very patient in explaining this when I can imagine she would be very busy.

A very impressive service and my great thanks to the whole team. It seemed a text-book way to provide and excellent service and I couldn't fault it
