"Woeful communication & attention to detail"

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

77yr old patient, admitted for swelling in knee. Spent 3 weeks in hospital, accelerated out to Faversham without full assessment of swelling that remained in place, preventing patient to be able to stand. Despite repeated requests for patient to receive an MRI, doctors ignored and dispatched anyway.

Patient has now been returned to QEQM, from Faversham due to knee issue and unable to undergo rehab due to same issue. Re admitted after Faversham hospital requesting an MRI with suspicion of meniscus tear.

Patient has been abandoned y the first A&E doctor he saw and has not received any information about next steps, then removed from consultation room and left, immobile in the corridor, in hospital pyjamas alone.

Communication in QEQM for the last 4 weeks is appalling. I appreciate they are under stress but basic human decency of communication should not suffer and patient notes should be kept fully updated everyday.

I am so sorry to read of the poor experience the patient had on both occasions attending the QEQM hospital.

I completely appreciate your frustrations and this is not the way we want any patients in our Trust to be treated.

If you would like to discuss this further please contact my team's email address which is ekhuft.patientvoice@nhs.net
