I was a patient in maternity triage unit in Aberdeen in early March. We were met by a qualified midwife (I can’t remember her name) and a first year student midwife Sandra.
Although the qualified midwife was extremely nice, it was Sandra that made my experience positive. Sandra explained what was going on to myself and my birth partner every step of the way, she took great care of us both.
Sandra, if you see this, please know that your presence and attitude was extremely welcoming, you were so empathetic and understanding, your bedside manners were on top of the top and you are just a nice person to be around.
You got down to my eye level when I was on the gym ball, suggested turning the tap on and explained to my partner what was happening during my contractions and guided his hands on my stomach.
All these little things what is standard in your practice, made our day. You made me feel reassured and I felt safe in your care. My partner and I thought you are a definition of a good Midwife.
Please never let anyone let your spirits down, you are an amazing midwife. Your professionalism and midwifery knowledge was extraordinary, you knew how to explain complex aspects of care to me when I was in most pain I have ever been and the most vulnerable I think I will ever be.
You included my partner and made him feel included during our time on the unit making sure my partner, me and most importantly our baby was okay. Thank YOU!
Sincerely,
"So empathetic and understanding"
