"All in all a very professional experience"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Elective Orthopaedics (Ward 7) University Hospital Hairmyres / Trauma & Orthopaedics (Wards 1 & 5)

(as the patient),

I recently had a four-day stay at Hairmyres Hospital for a full knee replacement under the care of my excellent surgeon, Mr Grant , my very caring anaesthetist Ms McAleer, and all the wonderful staff at Ward 7.

I attended the Joint Pain Clinic at the Nuffield for over a year pre-op and I think this helped my recovery.

Hairmyres offered me Joint School, a 2-hour session where you meet other patients who are about to have an op on knees / hips. I can thoroughly recommend this as I met the recovery nurse, anaesthetist, physio and OT. Every part of the journey was explained from the moment you enter the hospital ‘til the day you leave.

I had a spinal and anyone who is worried about this shouldn’t because you can be sedated and recovery is much safer.

All in all a very professional experience.

Dear Triwr38,

Delighted to read your positive feedback regarding your recent admission. It is great that you have shared your positive experience as this may assist others who are about to go through the same procedure.

Your post will be shared with the Orthopaedic team who I am sure will be pleased to read your comments particularly how you found the input from the multi disciplinary team so informative and reassuring.

Thankyou for taking the time to provide this feedback and I wish you well in your recovery.

kind regards

Margaret
