"Robotically assisted repair of Inguinal Hernia"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Day Surgery North Devon District Hospital / Theatres

(as the patient),

Barnstable NHS hospital service.

Notwithstanding the unfortunate but inevitable long wait, to eventually be selected/admitted for treatment and having returned recently from the Day Surgery Unit at the NDDH NHS Barnstaple Royal University Healthcare  for what was a successful second Inguinal Hernia repair procedure, this time Robotically corrected under the exceptional directional skills of consultant surgeons: John and Kayleigh and their first rate team.

I would like to place on record that my appointment within the extremely busy hospital - still successfully struggling with long waiting lists, full beds, massive staffing pressures and the apparent patient catch up - was phenomenal. I have yet again nothing but complete admiration, respect, appreciation and awe for the committed hospital staff, empathetic care and professionally skilful team responses throughout my overall hospital experience, which leaves me not only grateful for their service but once again proud of our extraordinary and occasionally chastised NHS.

Apologies for not articulating all individual names responsible for my appointment/procedures all of whom made the extraordinary experience less stressful. From my arrival at the reception desk, transitioning through the excellent reliable and attentive pre-surgery administration preparations team, nurses Steve, Katie, and their colleagues; then on to the cheerful, knowledgeable, specialist anaesthetist utilising updated anaesthetics and modern monitoring systems, which was not only super effective but ensured a positive and quicker recovery on this occasion than previous and then finally to the discharge nursing staff.

My sincere gratitude to the exceptionally aforementioned skilful surgeons and their talented accomplished theatre team; to the courteous and respectful recovery team; and as I was last patient on the Friday listings, to Lundy Ward for my final discharge procedures; then last but not least, any member of staff in the background Hospital workforce, including the effectual room cleaners and anyone whom I have unintentionally left out but who made my appointment much more bearable.

Thank you all for your patience, exceptional care, and tremendous selflessness to your patients. My recovery is proceeding as planned and is testament to the wonderful care and attention which I received.

Thank you, I am eternally grateful.

Stay Alert, Stay Safe, Stay Alive.
