Was due to be induced at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital. However a day before at 39 weeks 3 days I was unsure if I was nearing labour or not due to early labour signs but irregular contractions.
Rang triage who were so kind and understanding and were happy for me to come in and be assessed. Upon arrival was revealed I was in labour and dilated enough to be moved to labour ward. Gave birth late afternoon that day and then was moved to Ashgrove Ward for observations on baby. Discharged next day.
I know everyones birthing experiences are different. But from start to finish I cannot fault the care received from every member of staff myself and my partner encountered.
During what is an obviously stressful and vulnerable time they were so kind, supportive, understanding and all went above and beyond. The care we received was outstanding. The facilities were clean and comfortable. And even the food was top notch.
Despite the fact the building itself is old, having work done currently, a very busy place and they are awaiting a new maternity hospital being built the staff all do the best the can under the circumstances.
People are quick to pick fault and complain but not enough credit is given to many of the staff for the jobs they do and the difference it makes to people's lives.
Had the most amazing birthing experience and can't thank them all enough.
"Had the most amazing birthing experience"
