"Wait for an appointment"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Haemotology

(as the patient),

My excellent Haemotology department referred me to Hepatology at the same hospital in mid-January, I need a fibroscan on my liver.

After about a month I called to chase up the appointment to be told they are only done on a Thursday and it's not considered urgent and that I will get an appointment in the post.

I haven't heard another thing and feel in limbo, daren't book a holiday or commit to anything on Thursdays. I'm getting increasingly anxious as I don't know what they think may be wrong.

I wouldn't mind the wait for the appointment itself if I just had a date for it.

Dear Anxious67,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I was sorry to learn of your concerns regarding your wait to be seen following referral to Hepatology for a Fibroscan on your Liver, and regret that this is causing you a degree of anxiety.

To allow us to help and support you further, it would be useful to understand more about this issue so if you are happy and comfortable to do so, please can you contact Patient Services at NHS Dumfries and Galloway on 01387 2727233 or via email at dg.patientservices@nhs.scot.

Please be assured that should you be able to contact us directly; we will endeavour to help you with further information on your wait time for an appointment.

Best wishes,

James.
