"Terrible experience "

About: Pontefract General Infirmary

I took my partner here after he collapsed on the toilet as recommended by our GP practise. He had been ill for a few days before this happened. When we got to see someone after 2.5 hrs we were told we needed to leave as he had covid. I would like to put here that no test was carried out and when we did our own it was negative. They woman who saw him wouldn't even listen and even laughed when I explained that he'd stopped breathing when unconscious and told me he'd be dead if that happen. I brought him there to make sure he hadn't caused any damage when he collapsed and nothing was looked into because she assumed he had covid. I feel covid was used as an excuse to get through numbers quicker. I am so angry about the experience and feel let down.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your partner's experience whilst visiting one of our services.

I am so sorry to read of the experiences you have described which definitely fall short of the standards we aspire to here at the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.

I can only begin to imagine what a worrying time it must have been for you and your partner and it is disappointing to read how staff laughed at you when you shared your concerns with them. This is not something we would want anyone to experience and for that I am sorry.
