Child needed inguinal hernia op. Received a cancellation appointment which I am incredibly grateful for (I must pick up phone more often to numbers I don’t know).
Wish we had a small locker.
Lots of duplicate form filling, different person each time a few hours apart, seems very unnecessary and could be streamlined.
Emla cream in the morning hours before the procedure was very restrictive to colouring in and hand washing as additional bandages.
Medical staff excellent.
Finding Nemo 3 times is a pretty stressful film, lost children etc, perhaps a less stressful choice of film.
Play supervisor was awesome in that final hour when we were last (beginning to worry it wouldn’t happen) & pretty empty & exhausted.
Op at 5pm, finished by 5.20, brilliant.
Main concern was that child got up 2 hours after op & slumped to floor as legs still not working, would have been ideal to prewarn as it is a long way to fall.
By 7.30 I asked husband to come & collect as I had food, potential overnight bag & child who couldn’t walk with significant walk to car. Staff did not advise which door to access, spent 30min wandering around outside trying to find an open door. Last child left, staff clearing up, swabbing bed. Felt we were forced to leave. Had luggage on one shoulder & very unstable on feet child under other arm- less than ideal, a poor end to an otherwise excellent experience.
