"10 hours later he still hadn't seen a doctor"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a parent/guardian),

My teenage son had accident on his dirt motorbike.

Lots of pain and swelling on hip and below.

First night a and e. Waited 2 hours then left as he was too sore to sit on chair.

Day 2. Called 111.  Told us to go to a and e.

5 hours later he got worse, deteriorated.

Came home, called 111, symptoms worse, ambulance came.

Lovely caring ambulance team. Gave him morphine.

He got bed in a and e.

Day 3 , 10 hours later, he still hadn’t seen a doctor or had an xray.

Nurses were lovely.

But where are the doctors?

Dear Mum D

Thank you for sharing your story. It must be a very worrying time for you and I am sure that NHS Forth Valley will respond.

Once everything is resolved, if you would like me to pass on your thanks to the ambulance crew, may I ask that you contact our Patient Experience Team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, Care Opinion name, your son's name and the address and date we attended.

I do hope your son is feeling better soon.

Kindest regards

David

Dear Mum D, I am sorry to hear of your recent experience when accessing our services via Accident and Emergency. I am sorry for the added stress this will have added to what would have been a stressful and worrying time for both you and your son. We are always keen to improve our service. I would be keen to hear more to help me understand the challenges and what possible solutions we may be able to implement to prevent this in the future.

Once your son is recovered and you have the capacity to do so, I would ask that you get in touch to have a chat through the overall experience for both you and your son.

Yours Sincerely

Dr David Watson
