"We built such a close bond"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Day Clinic (Older People’s Services)

(as a relative),

My father was admitted into the Stroke Rehabilitation Ward 56, after suffering a major stroke in November 1st 2023 and was discharged on 1st March 2024.

I am so grateful to all the Nursing Staff, Auxiliary Staff,  Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Team and Domestic Staff for the  care  and support my father  received.  Their genuine smiles and caring attitude had a positive affect on my father's mental health and wellbeing.
Thanks to their perseverance and patience, my father was able to walk again.

The patience, care and commitment from all the Nursing and Auxiliary staff on a daily basis was outstanding.

We as a family can not thank the NHS staff enough for giving my father his life back. We  felt supported and were provided with appropriate advice and help to cope over the last four months.

The friendly staff who engage patients in art therapy on Monday and Tuesdays, play an important role in patients rehabilitation.
Kate the activity coordinator is bubbly, enthusiastic and works hard by positively engaging with patients and their families
We built such a close bond and good working relationship with all the staff in ward 56, it  was sad to say goodbye .

Dear Mount Everest

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback on Care Opinion.

I can only begin to imagine how worried you and your family must have been prior to your father's admission into the Stroke Rehabilitation Ward of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

I was absolutely delighted to hear the care and treatment he received from our staff was 'outstanding' and his life is now back on track after his scare.

It was really heart warming to hear of the dedication and commitment that has been shown by both your father and the staff to get him to where he is now especially in such a short time.

I will be happy to pass on your thanks to all the team who I'm sure will be as touched as I was to read your kind words.

I'm sure your father will be missed by all the staff involved in his care.

Kind regards

Kevin

Dear Mount Everest

Thank you for taking the time to post your story about your father's stay in ward 56.

It must have been such a worrying time for you all, but I am so pleased to hear that he has been discharged and things have improved for him.

It is always really special for staff to hear that their support has made a difference to the people they care for. I have let the Speech and Language Therapy team who work in the Stroke Rehabilitation ward 56 at QEUH know of your lovely comments.

Thank you

Aileen
