"The palliative team helped us through"

About: Fife Community Services / Community Palliative Care Victoria Hospital / Medical High Dependency Victoria Hospital / Palliative Care and Hospice Victoria Hospital / Stroke

(as a relative),

We would as a family like to thank all the staff of the Palliative team, stroke unit in ward 42 and HDU for the care our mother received following a haemorrhagic stroke.   Unfortunately our mum was unable to recover but the care and kindness she received was deeply appreciated by us. Every member of these teams need to be recognised for all their hard work and commitment.

During what was a very difficult time for us, the palliative team helped us through and the 2 consultants that we had discussions with showed the utmost respect and compassion.  They organised for us to take our mum home  quickly and efficiently.  We want to thank them for making this very difficult journey that bit easier and allowing us to bring our mum home, which we know has given her and us so much peace. We were well supported both in the acute and community setting. We are extremely lucky in Fife to have such an excellent team, thank you.

Dear Sagittarm85,

I am so very sorry to hear about your mum, I am pleased to note the Palliative Care team were able to support with your mum and families wishes.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such valuable feedback at a time which I imagine has been quite difficult for you. I will be sure to share your feedback with the teams involved.

Kind regards,

Thank you sagittarm85 for taking the time to give such positive feedback at such a difficult time for you.

I will share your feedback with the Specialist palliative care team who I am sure will very much appreciate your positive comments.

I am glad the team were able to support your mum coming home and that you and your family also felt supported when caring for your mum in her final days and hours.

In the coming weeks and months whilst you start to come to terms with the loss of your mum please look after yourself and your family.

Kindest regards

Mary Kinninmonth
