My son was referred to Bronwyn, the Early Years Worker, last year for extra support. He has been waiting 3 years for an autism assessment and I needed more support with managing his needs. He has situational mutism which affects him at nursery.
I cannot thank Bronwyn enough for the support that she has provided the whole family. She went along to my son's nursery for a multi-agency meeting with evidence-based information that she had spent a significant amount of time researching. She explained everything fully to the nursery staff on the best way to support my son and brought multiple copies of all of the information she had gathered to share with everyone.
My son has made incredible progress since then and I honestly don't believe he would have made the amount of progress he has without Bronwyn's input. She has kept in regular contact to keep up to date with my son's progress.
I am so grateful I was referred to the Early Years Service within the health visiting team. I feel particularly at this time when children are facing long wait lists for neurodevelopmental input, this service is an invaluable resource for families who need that extra support.
