"No care nor recognition given to anxiety and distress"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Day Surgery

(as a carer),

My daughter is being investigated for Lymphoma. She is only in her 20s. She had had to complain about her care and treatment to date.

She has attended recently for surgery to remove a lymph node, for biopsy. She was incredibly scared, which is understandable. I attended day surgery with her. Adamant refusal to let me sit with her, as she was going into a bay. I do appreciate this of course, but absolutely no care nor recognition given to the anxiety and distress my daughter was experiencing,  whilst waiting to find out if she has cancer. The nurse, was not in any way welcoming nor kindly and at best, seemed disinterested, in my explaining how anxious my daughter was. Not particularly person centred at all.

PET have taken her concerns seriously and identified considerable deficits in her care. I was forced to sit in a waiting room, texting my daughter back and forth to try and reassure her. Incredibly stressful and very disappointing
