"A worrying situation"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Male Medical

(as a relative),

A member of my family was a patient in Male Medical at Daisy Hill Hospital. There are 7 beds squeezed in to where 6 beds should be. No oxygen point at one bed. Barely enough room for a chair at bedside.. The patients are within touching distance from each other which is an infection risk.

No dignity, no privacy and this also seems unsafe. If there was an emergency getting a crash trolley in would be impossible.  This seems to be the situation in many wards now. Those responsible for approving this need to make significant changes immediately.  It is a very worrying situation.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your relative's stay on Male Medical Ward.

Unfortunately due to the bed pressures we are facing across the Trust, we have extra beds on all our wards. I understand your concerns regarding this. We try to provide as much dignity as possible to patients and privacy to patients at all times. Due to limited space, patients are often close together on the wards, which I understand is frustrating for patients and relatives.

I assure you the situation is escalated on a daily basis. We will continue to try our best to provide safe care on our ward. I hope this gives you some reassurance.

I send my regards to your relative and I hope they are recovering well.
