I was lost and had no battery in my phone. I walked into a clinic at night at Whittles, to ask for help. I was homeless and did not know where I was to go for an emergency admission into a homeless place. I ended up walking into the sexual health clinic.
The reception lady got a nurse to help me. Her name was Lee Ann. She asked my name, got me to wait in the waiting room. She made a phone call to find out where I should be. She got the address of the place I was to go to. I am not from here and I didn’t know where to go. The place was a few miles away. I did not have any money. The nurse gave me one of her sandwiches and a hot drink. She then ordered a taxi for me and paid for it. I was totally lost and didn’t know what to do. It was a very cold, wet night and Lee Ann and the reception lady really helped me.
The staff at the unit said to me the nurse phoned to check I’d got there and to make sure I was okay. I don’t know what I would have done without that nurse helping me. People need to remember how good the NHS is and all these staff going over and above to help people who might not even be their patients. Thank you for helping me when I was helpless.
