"Treatment in the podiatry department"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Podiatry Omagh Primary Care Complex / Podiatry Outpatients Department / Fracture Clinic

(as a service user),

I have a painful condition in my feet. I was nearing a trip abroad so I was enquiring about getting some pain relief before I went. I needed steroid injections. I was given an appointment with Darren. He saw me. He was so kind and understanding. He remade my insoles. However he was not trained as yet in performing steroid injections. He then contacted a podiatrist who was qualified to do this. Unfortunately  he couldn't fit me  in. I went home sore and disappointed.  However the next day I got a call from a podiatrist called Sean. Darren had been making calls all over the trust to try to help me. Sean saw me in Altnagelvin. He was so kind and professional  too. He administered  injections into my feet. This left me pain-free for my big 7 week trip. I can't thank them enough. Darren went over and above to sort me out. Sean then sorted me out.

In late Feb I was seen by Mr Gibson at the orthopaedic clinic. He gave  me a thorough  examination and I have been referred for surgery. Then as he noted that I was suffering from pain again, he gave me steroid injections into my feet. I was not expecting pain relief at that time. The consultant  was also so kind and professional. There was a podiatrist, who was also very kind. I am sorry I can't remember her name.

I can't thank the podiatry  department and the orthopaedic  department enough.
