"A high level of care was provided across the ward"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Acute Short Stay Medicine

(as a service user),

Recently admitted to Ward 103 ARI for a few nights and I am so sad about what I witnessed.

The night staff were honestly fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and a high level of care was provided across the ward.

That said, the nurse - given several nicknames by other patients - couldn’t have been less interested if they tried. There was definitely no patient centred care and for someone working on a ward consisting of many vulnerable people, often at the lowest moment of their lives, nurse's attitude was certainly not caring.

I did raise some concerns with other staff members but due to my current employment I feel unable to take this further. Perhaps the nhs should seek feedback from all patients upon their discharge. Poor staff affect patient recovery!

'Dear Manc 1,

Thank you for getting in touch to tell us about your experience in 103 and your positive feedback regarding the night shift.

I’m sorry to hear that this was not the case for the whole team, as Senior Charge Nurse for Ward 103, this isn’t an experience that’s easy for me to hear. I shall share this with the team for reflection.

If you would like to discuss your feedback further I’d be happy for you to contact me on 01224 550961 or elaine.brooks@nhs.scot.
