I was recently in Ward 11c in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
I can’t speak too highly of the quality of care that myself and my sons received from the nursing staff during my stay.
Apart from their unfailing care and competence in carrying out all the medical procedures, I felt that the constant kindness shown by all of the nurses was a medicine in itself. I’d like to mention some of them here:
Charmaine made my sons and I feel welcome when we arrived on the ward and got us settled in so that our stay on the ward began in a positive way on our first day.
Shannon always took the time to explain in detail all that was going on so that my sons and I were able to ask our questions and were kept informed.
Ula took the time to explain everything patiently and clearly and provided much-needed reassurance when I was nervous and worried during the nights before and after surgery.
On the night of surgery, Charlotte and Alan took me through the formalities in a pleasant and cheerful manner and brought me down to surgery, where Shay, Mhairi, Helen and Karis chatted with me while preparing me for surgery and let me use the phone to call my sons to let them know I was about to go into theatre.
Kirsten made sure I had the time I needed in the days after surgery so that when I was discharged I felt safe and confident about going home.
Kelley, Kyle, Katy and Liz were there each day and took care of everything that was needed and were always cheerful company.
I’d also like to mention my consultant, Miss Hendry; it was my good fortune to have been under her care.
My sons were able to stay in my room with me through each day of my stay on the ward. In these extraordinary circumstances we were able to feel that we were among friends who cared about us, only wanted the best for us and for whom nothing was too much trouble. I hope this review conveys some of the gratitude I feel, and I know my sons feel the same. Thank you all.
"Excellent quality of care"
