"These services are second to none"

About: CGL Birmingham / East Hub

I joined CGL last year, the service is amazing. Very welcoming and go above and beyond to help you in recovery, all you have to do is engage and want sobriety.

I was given a detox opportunity at Park House Birmingham. Then I chose to go to an emerging futures dry house in Worcestershire. I'm now 90 days clean, I'm volunteering for the rough sleepers team, also in the gym 3-4 days a week and waiting for a start date to become a recovery coach. It's amazing what an addictive mentality can be used for.

My life has completely changed in this short time, I'm physically and mentally a totally different person. I have family connections back and an amazing social network to which I'm climbing mountains and building my own camper van which I've save up to buy from money I'd usually of spent on alcohol. We do recover. We can break the cycle.

I'd say to anyone in addiction, reach out get help, you're not on your own, these services are second to none.

I'd like to say a massive thank you to my CGL worker Elise and East hub Birmingham, all the staff at Park House for everything you done to help me, you are all truly amazing people, I now have my lifestyle back.

I'm on a mission two give my upmost back to these services and helping like minded people in addiction. 

Again, thank you to all the staff at CGL, my support worker, Elise, all the staff at Park House, you're all undercover heroes.

It sounds like you have made some absolutely amazing changes in your life and I hope you feel massively proud of everything you have achieved. Congratulations on your 90 days!

You are 100% right, people do recover and the cycle can be broken. Your story provides living proof of this and I hope other people get to read about your experiences, so they can start believing that with some hard work and commitment, they too can achieve the same!

Your feedback about our service is absolutely lovely and I’m really glad to hear that you have been supported so positively by the services and people you have engaged with. Elise and the Team from the East Hub have seen your feedback and were hugely appreciative of your kind words. I will make sure the Services Manager at Park House sees your feedback too so he can share it with the team there. I am sure they will also be very grateful and really happy to learn about everything you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

I can only begin to imagine how happy your family and social connections must feel to have you back in their lives, having made so much progress and with so many plans for the future. Your plan to buy and build a camper van sounds amazing, and it must feel so great to be able to see that money that you would have normally spent on alcohol, building up so you can make this a reality.

I really hope your date for training to become a recovery coach comes around soon, so that you can give back like you want to and help people to beat their addictions too! You’ve most likely already made a positive difference to the lives of the people you’ve met through your rough sleepers volunteer role. And once you’re a recovery coach, I’m sure you will be well needed source of support to many more people who are struggling.
