"A lovely student nurse when my mum was in hospital"

About: Mater Hospital / Respiratory

(as a relative),

My mum took flu recently and was admitted to the Mater hospital in Belfast. She was in Ward 2 and then Ward 3. Lots of the staff were lovely but I want to pay particular tribute to the lovely student nurse, Niamh, who was so kind and caring and was the only person who asked me one day how I was feeling and took a few moments out of her busy schedule to care for me in her kind words and thoughts.  What a wonderful young lady who has a great career ahead, with her warm and compassionate manner.  I do hope this message makes its way to her and indeed all the staff who cared for mum so well. Thank you.

Dear casingjr33

Thank you for taking the time to tell us your experience. My name is Bernie Carey and I am the service manager of the Mater. It is so heart warming to hear a positive story about our hard working staff. I assure you this feedback will get back to our student Nurse Niamh. I know she will be thrilled and her support and compassion shown to you tells me she will be an excellent nurse when she qualifies. When our service users tell us they have had a positive experience with a high level of good care, our staff are thrilled and this makes the job so rewarding. I thank you for this.

I do hope your Mum is recovering well and her strength is gradually improving.

Thanks again for your lovely kind words.

Take care Bernie

Service Manager
