I had an experience or “flare up” where I lost all my energy and couldn’t do basic things, even walking was a chore. My quality of life went downhill and I started to think what’s the point of it all, the more I thought about it, the more negative thoughts I had. I eventually got an appointment with the COPD clinic who referred me to NHS Inclusion Thurrock.
Within a week I had a call from them asking if I would like to join a trial group that they were putting together to help people with COPD and suffering negative thoughts. They gave us tasks each week to guide us in changing our thought process. The course was for 4 weeks with a follow up call from a therapist each week who enquired on our progress.
My attitude towards even the most daunting task has changed during the course. After struggling for so long I realise now that you don’t have to struggle alone, there is help out there and it is good to talk.
I needed this group to give me the push I needed to change my life and can’t thank them enough.
"Gave me the push I needed to change my life"
