"Gave me sound advice"

About: Arbroath Infirmary / Minor Injuries

(as the patient),

Suffering from Plantar Fasciitis, I hurt my heel after it "pinged" twisting badly. I went up to Arbroath but was told that I should have phoned 111 before coming up. However, since I had no idea that this was what I should have done as I'd never used this facility before, the reception took some details and arranged for me to be seen as I was in a lot of pain. Thank you for that.

I was seen within 10 minutes and examined by someone who was very thorough and lovely. She diagnosed the problem, fitted me with crutches, gave me sound advice and I was out within 45 minutes.

Thank you to you all, I am now sitting with my feet up trying to be patient and let time take its course.

Dear, cepheusfj84,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your story on care opinion. I'm very sorry to hear about recent heel injury that required a trip to the Minor Injuries Unit.

I hope your heel is feeling better and you are on the mend. The advice is to contact NHS 24 to ensure patients are getting care at the right place at the right time. But we can appreciate not everyone is aware of this process.

I'm delighted to hear you were seen efficiently and felt your examination was thorough and were given sound advice. All the nurses in MIU are experienced and have gone through extra training on injury management to assess injuries, advise and educate patients.

I will be sure to pass on your kind comments to the nursing staff.

Thanks again,

Take care,

Katy Cook (Senior Staff Nurse, Arbroath MIU, NHS Tayside).
