Visiting my grandmother in ward 3 at the New Victoria Hospital was a breath of fresh air in comparison to prior experiences of other hospitals.
Tracy the staff nurse and Tricia the auxiliary went out of their way to talk to me and my two young children and make us feel welcome.
Moreover, Tracy was the first nurse caring for my grandmother in any hospital (she has been a frequent flier recently) who has actually understood what was going on with her care and could explain to me what investigations were being carried out and why (with my grandmother's consent). She was also very concerned with the overall picture and looking at my grandmother in a holistic way, which was reassuring to see.
Staff were visible on the ward and held eye contact in a way which made them appear approachable - again a far cry from past experiences.
Massive thank you to Tracy and Tricia for taking time out of their day to welcome me to their ward and for their compassionate care of my grandmother.
"Excellent staff members"
