"No phone signal"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I had to attend the ward 6, for a procedure. The staff were very kind and helpful. Although the hospital has no mobile phone signal. This was very frustrating when trying to communicate/contact family members. It made my visit to the hospital very lonely and stressful.

It is an issue that I have come across many times, when I have been as a patient, or other family members have been in the hospital. I tried the patient WIFI which didn’t work.  As a modern building I would have thought a mobile phone signal would be easy to access.

Dear Goodtotalk

Thank you for sharing with us your experience whilst you were a patient in Ward 6. It is always lovely to hear how well you were cared for my our staff.

I appreciate the difficulties you experienced using the wi-fi within the hospital, and we are aware of the problems encountered by patients and families using the public guest wi-fi. Our IT department are continually looking at ways to improve the wi-fi signal within the hospital and I have shared your story with them to raise awareness of the impact it has on our patients.

I know it will have been upsetting for you when you were unable to contact your family and our staff do not want any of our patients to feel stressed and lonely particularly when they are in hospital.

I hope you are recovering well from you procedure and once again thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Best Wishes

Caroline
