I had an incredibly bad fall on black ice. Where I smashed my head and neck off a kerb and was lying on the road.
I managed to get to the RAH Paisley where I was XRayed and discovered a C5 unstable fracture on my neck. I was immobilised on my back for 2 1/2 days.
I was then taken to the Queen Elizabeth hospital by blue light ambulance and I received a CT scan then an MRI to establish the severity of the break. I was initially put in a Miami J collar but after 2 more XRays I was finally put in an Aspen Vista CTO collar.
All the staff could not have been kinder especially as it took 6 people to move me from bed to bed to ensure my neck remained stable
I will be in the collar for 12 weeks. I’m just so thankful to not be paralysed.
