"Everyone was so friendly and remained calm"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / High Dependency Unit Crosshouse Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I had my baby girl via c section in November and the staff couldn't have done enough for me. I took a bit unwell during my section and nothing was too much trouble for them. Everyone was so friendly and remained calm and spoke to me thought the whole procedure. While also keeping a eye on my husband.

I was ready to leave the following day and was given antibiotics to prevent infection. When I went into anaphylaxis ( unknown to myself I was allegic to penicillin) within minutes the room was filled with drs who saved my life. I can't thank them enough. They made sure my little girl still has her mummy.

Once I was stable I was moved to HDU and every single doctor came to check on me. Making sure I was feeling OK and if I had any questions.

I was kept in that night again and a bed was arrange for my husband to stay with me. And the midwifes kept a close eye on me both physical and mentally.

The next morning the Dr who had been in charge of looking after me while I was having my anaphylaxis- Dr Morgan came to find me and sat down with me and had a good chat with me and made sure I was doing OK mentally which I really appreciated. Even tho I cried at him so much for saving me.

The team that was on that day don't understand how special they are to me and my family. I can't remember everyone's name. I know Dr Martin was there and Antia the midwife she didn't leave myside the whole time. She held my hand while also checking on my husband and daughter and reassuring me that they were OK.

I can't thank the staff enough. Thanks to them I'm at home doing well with my 11 week old baby.

The Dr's and Midwifes are such a credit to the NHS and words will never be enough to thank them.

Thank you to everyone that saved me that day.

Dear Firsttimemum14

Firstly congratulations on the birth of your baby! Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us during what must be a very busy period in your life as a new family.

I was delighted to hear that you received supportive care by the team and that whilst delivering urgent care for your physical health, they ensured you were mentally ok.

I will ensure your lovely message is passed on to them and I am sure they will be delighted.

I wish you and your family the best of health for 2024 and the future

kind regards

Attica
