"I've found the communication to be very poor"

About: Gynaecology / Gynaecology Out Patients

(as a service user),

After meeting the director of this service in November, I subsequently received the notes from the meeting, which stated I would have an appointment in February with a follow up call from a manager. The notes had been signed off by another director at the trust.

In late December I received a letter from the consultant along with blood test results, stating she was discharging me from her clinic. I responded to my notes within days, highlighting the consultant discharging me & the offer of the February appointment. I haven’t had any further information whatsoever from the department. I don’t know whether I’ve discharged from the department completely or am I now under the care of another consultant, as has happened previously. As it is now February & I’ve received no appointment - does it mean I now need a further referral from my GP (which would be the 4th one), or is it the case that I’m awaiting the appointment now for a further date with another consultant?

I’ve found the communication from this department to be very poor. It’s upsetting as I continue to endure severe on going pain, which is extremely debilitating.

Good morning

I am sorry your experience was not what you had hoped for and I apologise for any poor communication on our part.

I would be very happy to discuss this with you and clarify any concerns if you would like to contact me at Gynae OPC in the Mater.

Hi

My name is Paul McCarthy and I'm the Service Manager for Gynaecology and Sexual Health within Belfast HSCT.

Thank you very much for taking the time to give us your feedback on your experience whilst under the care of Gynaecology in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. We appreciate all forms of feedback to help improve the service for the future.

I am sorry you have found communication to be very poor. We would like to offer you the opportunity to have this matter formally investigated to understand what has gone wrong, resolve this for you and how we avoid it happening to another one of our patients.

To do this we would need a little bit more information from you and I would invite you to contact the Complaints Department on complaints@belfasttrust.hscni.net.

Kind regards

Paul
