My grandad was admitted for a toe amputation and left having broken his hip and had his leg amputated.
Whilst on D43 the care was appalling. He asked to go for a wee, they told him to go in his pad and when he defecated they asked him why he didn't go to the toilet.
Multiple times family visited and we found the call bell placed out of reach, differing answers on if he had C. diff (which he didn't, we later found).
Medication cupboards left open and every time I visited I could see my grandad fading. He was grey and lost a lot of weight.
We've put in a formal complaint and received a response which basically disputed what we said despite multiple reports of it. I nearly lost my grandad here and when he was transferred closer he picked up massively. He has colour to him and is now seeing physio.
3 months in SRH it was the worst experience of our lives. We didn't complain for the sake of it, many of our family are nurses or work in care ourselves and know how hard the job can be. We just wanted good care for my grandad.
"Poor quality of care for my grandad"
