"Care received in QEUH"

About: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Medical High Dependency Unit (MHDU)

(as the patient),

I was recently discharged from HDU unit 6 in the QEUH, after around a weeks stay, the care from the staff and doctors was amazing, who made a very anxious hospital stay that bit better. However on my first night in the unit one nurse made me feel really horrible and I spent most of the night crying. There was no empathy, compassion or bedside manner from her, how she looked and acted it felt as if she didn’t want to be there, the way she spoke to me I would never speak to a patient like that (I am in healthcare), it was really disappointing and made me feel ten times worse like I was a problem. It’s disappointing because the rest of the staff and doctors were lovely!

Dear Nicole-142009

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am pleased to hear that the care from the staff and doctors were amazing. Being in hospital can we a worrying and anxious time, so it is disappointing to hear about your experience on your first night and the lack of compassion and support. Please accept my apologies. We take feedback seriously and I will ensure this is shared with the team so we can learn from it.

I hope you are recovering well.

Best wishes

Nicole
