"Made this traumatic experience that little easier"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Radiology University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I broke my leg ice skating in East Kilbride recently. The ambulance crew, Alistair and the lovely girl, sorry I can't remember her name, were amazing. So patient with me. The got wet knees having to stay on the ice with me.

I was taken to A+E in Wishaw General. The medical and nursing staff were so kind to me. I attended radiology on 4 different occasions within 24hrs and all the staff there were lovely too. The porters were lovely as well who transported me about.

I have spent the last 5 days on ward 14 and heading home today. The staff are exceptional. Everyone has been so attentive and compassionate. I am a nurse myself and it's very difficult being on the opposite side but they have treated me with so much dignity and respect. The nursing staff, physiotherapists, CSWs, doctors and domestics are a credit to NHS Lanarkshire.

I won't remember all the names but this is a thank you to all the staff. They are wonderful. They have all made this traumatic experience that little easier for me.

Dear SueG

I'm sorry to hear about your recent injury to your leg, but pleased to read that you are on the mend and on the road to recovery.

Thank you so much for taking the time write about your experience in Radiology during your time at Wishaw. It is always lovely to hear such positive comments about the staff. I know they work hard but it is always valuable when patients take the time to express gratitude and thanks.

I will make sure this is passed onto the radiographers who I'm sure will be thrilled.

I sincerely hope your are starting to heal and feeling much better.

With warm wishes

Sara

Dear SueG

Thank you so much for getting in touch through Care Opinion to let us know about your experience. I am so sorry to read about your accident, goodness me, it sounds a nasty one.

I would be delighted to pass on your kind words to Alistair and his colleague if you would like? As all posts are anonymous, the only way we would be able to identify the staff would be if you contacted our team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, address and date of call out It would really helpful if you make reference to your CareOpinion username which will allow us to link up with this story

From all of us here at The Scottish Ambulance Service, we wish the very best and really hope it's not too long before you are back on your skates again!

Kind Regards

Lesley
