My heart rate had dropped to 35 and I wasn't feeling great. My husband rang 999 and an ambulance with 2 lovely young paramedics from Sheppey arrived within 7 minutes. I had had an ECG at my GP practice that day that I later found out had shown a total electrical block in my heart. Unfortunately, no one from my GP practice had informed me of this.
I was blue lighted to Medway Hospital and immediately wired up to a defibrillator and taken in to the resuscitation unit where I stayed for 24 hours. I was then transferred to Bronte ward, the Coronary care unit. I was told that I needed to have a pacemaker fitted which was carried out a few days later once I was stable enough. I was in hospital for 6 days.
The whole experience was amazing, every single member of staff was friendly, courteous, caring and just great. From consultants to health assistants. They were all cheery and nothing was too much trouble. I was monitored 24hrs a day and had a dedicated nurse. The choice of food was unbelievable. Snacks and drinks were readily available at all times. I cannot speak highly enough of the care I was given by this dedicated staff team. I am now home and have had my wound looked at which has healed lovely. Thank you to everyone for saving my life .
"The whole experience was amazing"
