"Timescale is shocking"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurology (Ward 53 and 67)

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter started attending QEH Glasgow in summer 2023.

1st appointment was very good. Dr arranged all tests.  Attended them all & have recently been diagnosed with MS. Now on list for MS Consultant.

Advised 26 week waiting time. Had appointment for 3 weeks time & today received cancellation letter, now to wait another 4 weeks.  All website pages regarding MS say treatment should start close to diagnosis to help stop further relapses. I feel this timescale is totally shocking for anyone to wait.   The worry of relapsing causes more stress.

Thank you Helena for responding. After I wrote the post I contacted my daughter’s MS nurses by phone. Left a message asking her nurse if she could help point me in the correct direction for help. Pamela one of the MS nurses called her back. She went out of her way & managed to get an earlier appointment for 10 days later than original appointment instead of waiting for the 4 weeks later rearranged appointment. I cannot thank the MS nurses enough. Only another 16 days till we eventually meet the MS Consultant to start treatment/meds. 🤞
