"I cannot tell you how much this changed my life!"

About: Trust Wide Physiotherapy Services / Physiotherapy Pelvic Health Service

(as a service user),

I have suffered with a rectal prolapse since February 2022.  I was referred by my GP at that time for Pelvic Health Physiotherapy.  I heard nothing and contacted by GP again in October 2023 as the back pain was really limiting my life and the prolapse was seriously affecting my self-esteem.  I was amazed to be offered a cancellation that same week in Antrim Hospital.

I travelled to the hospital and was greeted by Caoimhe and another wonderful physiotherapist whose name I cannot remember. Caoimhe and the other lady put me at ease and gave me dignity and assured me that I would get my body back again.  I saw Caoimhe once a month for four months and it took that time.  She was able to encourage me in my progress and correct anything that I was not doing correct as well as give me tips for re-training my pelvic floor.

I cannot tell you how much this changed my life!  I was given back my dignity by the way Caoimhe treated me as an individual and with such respect.

I was also amazed to find that it started to work almost immediately!  My back pain significantly lessened within the first two visits and I really needed the other appointments to reassure me that I was doing the pelvic floor exercised correctly and making progress.

My second appointment was at the clinic in Ballymena which is a wonderful facility and the reception staff there were lovely also.  My last two appointments were in Ballymena also.  I was happy to travel anywhere to avail of these precious Pelvic Health Physiotherapy appointments and I trusted Caoimhe completely.

There are gems of staff in the NHS and Caoimhe and the lady who was with her the first day and also the other physiotherapist who helped me with the Educator device in Ballymena are three of them.

Thank you all for giving me back my femininity and getting the horrendous back pain and associated issues under control.

Many thanks for taking time to give such positive feedback regarding your recent Pelvic Health Physiotherapy appointments. All feedback is important to us as a Service. I will ensure your feedback is passed on to Caoimhe and the rest of the Pelvic health team. It is great to hear that your low back pain, and symptoms in general, improved significantly during your Physiotherapy appointments. I hope you continue to see further progress with your symptoms and that you continue to work at the advice given by Caoimhe.

Many thanks again for your feedback

Regards

Andrew Barbour

Clinical Lead Physiotherapist.
