I have been waiting for a laparoscopy and was called for my pre assessment and the nurses at pre assessment in outpatients were amazing! They could tell I was very nervous and really put my mind at ease and gave me a good laugh.
I was then told I would be getting my procedure the following week. A nurse liased with me on the phone letting me know all my pre assessment tests were normal and that the procedure would be going ahead as planned.
I arrived to day procedure and was promptly greeted by a nurse, Donna, who brought me in to my own room and chatted to me and asked me questions relating to my health before getting the procedure accompanied by another nurse, Ruth. Both were great and were in and out checking on me.
The anaesthetist arrived to introduce himself and ask me more questions before getting the anaesthetic, he was also great. The Dr (Dr Mcilwaine) arrived to check with me for consent and chat about the procedure beforehand to make sure I was happy to go ahead.
I was so nervous walking into the theatre and the nurses there were great as well and put my mind at ease.
Next thing I knew I was awake and in recovery, everything went well. Dr Mcilwaine came to see me to chat about the procedure as well as the anaesthetist and the nurses looked after me until I was able to go back to day procedure ward. Here Donna looked after me so well again with another few nurses until I was allowed to go home.
So grateful for how amazing everyone was, I couldn’t fault one member of staff. Thanks for everything.
