"I felt as if I was attending a nice chat with a friend"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Pre Admission Assessment

(as the patient),

I recently had my pre assessment appointment with staff nurse Lisa at Monklands Hospital. I am in my 80s and about to embark on  a total knee replacement surgery. This lady is very very special in every way. Firstly she telephoned me to say she had an earlier appointment which I was happy to attend. From the moment my assessment began she put me at ease  telling me anecdotes about  her working life. I felt as if I was attending a nice chat with a friend. Needless to say the assessment was carried out in a thoroughly professional manner covering every aspect. I now feel less apprehensive about my operation thanks to Lisa.

Dear Marpr67,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Monklands, Pre-Admission Assessment.

What a lovely experience you have had with Lisa! It is so heart-warming to hear that speaking to her was like having a chat with a friend but that she was professional and thorough in her work throughout your assessment. This must have been very reassuring and is such a good example of person centred care.

I would be delighted to share your kind words and feedback with Lisa who I am sure will get a real boost from hearing your feedback.

I hope that all goes well with your procedure.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
