"GP treatment when trying to get mental health support"

About: Glendermott Medical

(as the patient),

I sought mental health services from my local GP, whilst contacting them for help i was met with a very rude member of staff

I had recently moved to university and was in the process of changing over my GP when I prioritised getting treatment for my mental health at home. When I rang for an appointment to speak to the mental health practitioner I was told that I was out of the catchment zone, which I understand. However I wasn't listened to when I tried to explain the situation, and in my state it exacerbated feelings of anxiety.

I was told they were removing me from their records and the person sad they didn't know what I was asking them to do "on the occasions I rang back to check back in with the mental health practitioner and when asking for an email address to contact them on to receive a letter for my university about my circumstances.

I have great appreciation for the trust and understand the pressures they are under as I am a healthcare student however, considering the position I was in and what I was ringing about I would've liked to have received nicer treatment.
