"They were so brilliant from the moment I contacted them"

About: Fife Community Services / Gender Based Violence Service Whytemans Brae Hospital / Sexual health service

(as a service user),

I find it so hard to put into words what happened. I was so traumatised and didn't know where to turn. I spoke to my local pharmacist who recommended I call the Fife Gender Based Violence Team immediately.

They were so brilliant from the moment I contacted them by phone. I was supported and able to access Gender Based Violence help, specific to my needs. They organised specialist medical care at my local hospital, and lots of follow up services to deal with the physical assault, while helping me with the mental trauma.

I then went to the Kirkcaldy Hospital at Whytemans Brae where I was put under the very caring support of Barbara. She has helped me so much. I meet with her every week and she is so warm, understanding and caring about what happened to me, helping me to distance myself from the guilt.

I am so grateful for her support every week. She understands everything and makes me feel so valued and cared for. Thank you so much.

Dear Wilbr73,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story on Care Opinion. I'm so pleased to hear that you have had a positive experience with our service. We care very much about providing a high standard of care and support and feedback like yours helps us to do this.

We know that it can sometimes be difficult to give feedback after a traumatic experience and we appreciate that you have taken time out of your day to share your story. Your voice helps to make a difference to others.

I will also share your feedback with Barbara-Ann who I know will be very grateful for your kind words.

Thank you again,

Leanne Patrick
