"We felt very well supported and listened to"

(as a service user),

I recently gave birth to my 4th baby at the Midwife led Unit in the Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy. Myself and my husband felt very well supported and listened to by all the staff who cared for us during our stay.

Our Midwives Emily and Claire who delivered our baby daughter were professional, empathetic and showed great care towards us all. The medical staff who were also involved in my care due to a complication directly following our baby's birth were all very professional and in essence saved my life. During our stay in the observation ward and postnatal ward we were shown nothing but kindness and it made our experience a very positive one.

A special mention to 2 exceptional Midwifes Fiona and Claire (from the observation bay in CLU) who were both so kind to us during a re-admission we unfortunately had 2 days after the birth. We as a family cannot thank the NHS enough for all the care and kindness we have been shown and we feel very lucky to have our new baby daughter home with her siblings to complete our family. We have been cared for particularly well by our community Midwife Nikki (North East Fife team) since we got home and would like to express our gratitude to her for all her support.

Another very positive experience of the NHS and makes us realise how lucky we are to have such an amazing service free and on our door step.

Congratulations Cavi2015 on the birth of your daughter.

We are sorry you have had a difficult time post birth, and subsequent readmission. We hope you are all recovered and settled well at home.

We are appreciative of all feedback, and what lovely feedback you have shared.

Feeling supported, and listened to is a key component in having a positive care experience. We are pleased that despite the challenges you faced you have experienced this throughout your journey and with the various teams you met.

we will share your appreciation with all the staff named above.

Thank you again for taking the time to recognise the individuals and teams, staff are always so pleased when these are shared.

Best Wishes

Pamela Higgins

Inpatient Clinical Midwifery Manager.
