"Told me to wait in the waiting area once more"

About: Xrays and scans / MRI Scans

(as a service user),

I was taken in to get my weight done and told to sit down in the MRI area. The staff member had told another patient to sit in the waiting area and had asked me to come in and get my weight done and told me to sit. They then saw that the other patient had come out of the toilet and then decided that they were going to swap us over, so took them in for their appointment and told me to wait in the waiting area once more. I felt it was an absolute shambles and I was left to wait for my appointment after another patient whose appointment time was after mine.

Dear y65

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent visit to the MRI department.

I am very sorry that you had a poor experience when waiting to be taken through for your MRI scan and you were asked to move back to the MRI waiting area after you were weighed.

We have two MRI scanners working within the same patient area and patients are appointed to each of the scanners depending on patient examinations and the individual patient requirements. At times, we do ask patients to move to another area to preserve patient confidentiality when going through the MRI safety checklist.

I am sorry that this was not explained to you by the member of staff at the time and as a result, you felt it was unorganised. I am happy to speak with you about your visit if you wish to contact me directly.

Kind Regards

Wendy Milne
