I had two knee replacement operations in the last seven months in Hairmyres Hospital. On both occasions, the treatment I received from admission to discharge was exceptional.
Both times I was admitted for one overnight to Ward 7 of the hospital. The care, attention, and respect I got from all NHS staff for the duration of my stay was of the highest order. I was anxious about both ops but staff helped put me at ease (as best they could). The surgical team were fantastic; I felt very humbled that all those people in the theatre were there for me, and the nursing team on the wards (and physios) were brilliant. I am coeliac but the ward team made sure that I I got gluten free food - which was delicious.
The staff couldn't have been more caring. They were very well organised re managing pain, organising physio, OT assessment (for returning home), and arranging medication for discharge. Having a knee replacement op isn't pleasant, but the support processes were faultless; there was nothing needed improving. I am so grateful, and thankful for the service I received at Hairmyres..
