Overall disappointed in the care and waiting times. I have endometriosis, I had my first ever surgery last year, and this is where the issues started.
First of all, my surgery was cancelled whilst I had been waiting for 5 hours in a hospital bed and in a gown so was postponed for a week which suffering with anxiety this caused distress.
On the day of the surgery once I had the operation and was recovering a member of the surgical team came to tell me the results. However, I was still half asleep and didn’t get properly informed of what had happened in my surgery.
Next, I was supposed to have a post-operation appointment within 8 weeks. However, I finally got a post-op appointment 5 months later (which the locum doctor didn’t turn up for and ended up waiting 2 hours for an appointment), in which my consultant told me details that I thought were necessary and should of been told sooner, such as losing more blood than normal and the fact that not all of my endometriosis had been removed as well as the fact the cyst they where removing had ruptured when they finally did the surgery.
I have been given very little information about my condition and most of my information I know was from online research. In my last appointment I was told I would have another scan within 3 months, when I asked about the time length and whether I would actually be seen in 3 months, my consultant told me about the strikes and the fact they weren’t being paid enough. Fast forward it has been 3 months and I still haven’t been seen for a scan or given an appointment.
