Recently telephoned Dundee re. shingles vaccine. Spoke to a pleasant member of staff (telephone administrator) and explained my dilemma. Being susceptible, and having had shingles on several occasions, was advised by doctor (when vaccine was first introduced) that I should not have it as could cause full blown symptoms and may attack internal organs. Whilst this was disappointing, it was understandable.
However, I recently received an NHS invite for the shinlges vaccine. I needed advice and was assured a nurse would telephone me back. I waited but no response, just the usual statement - You are very important to us; continue to hold and we will get back to you shortly.
I phoned them and held on for 25 mins. No response. Why? Such a simple task! Leaves you feeling - yet again - worthless. If I was a Vulnerable Adult, I may have gone to the appointment, had the vaccine, and ended up very ill. Where is the safety net?
