"Getting an apppointment"

About: Rotherham Road Med Centre Pms

(as a service user),

It's impossible to get an appointment. The receptionists told a queue of patients that they are not allowed to book any appointments under any circumstances and spent several minutes explaining to a patient that they could only contact GP online, and if they couldn't do that to ask someone else to do it for them.

In the past, doctors worked for patients. Now it seems as though the system is set up to ensure desperate patients are competing with other patients to get care. In my view, this is great for doctors, it means they can sit back and point to the high demand to push for increased salaries, when they have merely reduced the supply of appointments. I think all of our systems now work against users.

In my opinion, any gov with sense would train more docs, not require a* grades, which attract only a narrow and often inappropriate section of the public to train and allow a huge pay differential with nurses and doctors to maintain a superiority complex.
