"I've had various problems with this department"

About: Victoria Hospital / Rheumatology

(as a service user),

Where do I start?

I have had various problems with this department over the years and yet again I am having to cope with the results of their lack of understanding about patient care!

I take biologics for my R.A.and due to the fact they did not renew a prescription I have now missed 2 of my weekly injections and am thus having to take large doses of painkillers which could cause problems with other medications that I take

It also took 2 phone calls from myself before the Annual prescription for my biologics was sent to the pharmacy.

I would add that this is not the first time this has happened also after having a face to face consultation with specialist nurse a letter I requested re this appointment has not yet been received by myself and after a telephone call by myself today (a month after the appointment) no trace of it can be found?

A previous consultant at this department has stated on my records that flare ups cause damage to my joints very quickly and should be dealt with quickly but this gets constantly ignored

Dealing with this department is soul destroying

Dear WG301047

My name is Siobhan McIlroy and I am the Head of Patient Experience. NHS Fife welcomes all feedback, so thank you for taking the time to post on Care Opinion.

I am sorry you have been experiencing various problems within Rheumatology, this must be very frustrating and I can see it is impacting on your day to day life.

Your feedback will be shared with the service but it would be great if you could provide your details and NHS Fife can investigate this further for you. Allowing us an opportunity to understand what went wrong and how to learn from this and prevent it happening again.

Please email me at siobhan.mcilroy@nhs.scot and as Care Opinion is anonymous it would be helpful if you could put "Care Opinion - I've had various problems with this department" in the subject heading. Hope to speak to you soon.

Again thank you for sharing your story, best wishes and take care, Siobhan
