"Very appreciative of the care we received"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Children's Ward

(as a parent/guardian),

My baby had to spend a few days in the children’s ward and we were very grateful to the professional and caring nurses. In particular Stef, who was very attentive and went over and above. She was constantly taking the initiative to make sure our baby was looked after thoroughly, and that we were informed throughout. She was an absolute stand out on the ward.

While doctors were happy to answer questions we did find a slight challenge with clear communication. I would make the suggestion that to ensure information is communicated more easily from the doctors to families, perhaps a patient/family friendly discharge document could be made. For example this could detail what treatment happened during the stay, what the next treatment plan is, why decisions were made, medication doses/timings, reminders etc.

I am very appreciative of the care we received on the ward - thank you to all!

Dear Bluesky93

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience with us. I am delighted to hear you and your daughter were well looked after in the ward. I will share this lovely feedback with the staff, in particular Steph, who will be really chuffed.

Thanks also for your suggestion regarding an information leaflet. It's helpful for us to hear feedback in relation to what could make things easier for patients and families. I will share your suggestion with the ward manager and see what can be done.

I do hope your daughter is continuing to do well.

Kind regards

Karen Macfarlane
