"All the staff encountered have been very pleasant, helpful and professional"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Pain Management North Devon District Hospital / Radiology (X-ray) North Devon District Hospital / Upper GI Surgery

(as a relative),

My husband was referred to Mr Sanders by Mr Pullan at Torbay Hospital, due to ongoing nerve pain following hernia surgery.

After consultation with Mr Sanders and Mr Findlay, it was suggested that he should be seen by Mr Bennett for nerve injections. These had little effect so it was agreed that he should have a trial of genitofemoral radiofrequency ablation.  This was subsequently carried out by Mr Bennett in the radiology unit.

Once in radiology waiting for my husband I met Suzanne, a volunteer, who was exceptionally nice and pleasant and we had a good chat about various things and was asked to tell our story.

At this point, I have to say that so far we have been very impressed with the care my husband has received at North Devon District Hospital and all the staff encountered have been very pleasant, helpful and professional.

This experience is in direct contrast to the poor care previously received at Torbay Hospital, where attitudes appear to be completely different.

I am a Diagnostic Radiographer with many years experience of working, and imaging patients, in all areas of the Radiology department. I am also responsible for the governance in Radiology and so make sure that we are compliant with the many ionising radiation regulations that dictate what we can and can't do in radiology, keep the patients and staff safe and ensure we are practicing safely. I also deal with our policies and procedures and oversee compliments, complaints and quality.

Dear rainmt66,

Thank you for taking the time to leave positive feedback following your Husband's appointment in Radiology. It sounds like you've both had quite an experience of the NHS over recent months and I'm glad that your experience of the North Devon District Hospital has been positive.

I will make sure that the Radiology Nurses and Radiographers who assist Dr Bennett with the Pain list receive your kind feedback as well as Dr Bennett Himself.

I hope that the radio-frequency ablation was successful and your Husband is now on the mend.

Kind Regards

Gill
