Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is supposedly an NHS flagship, and often chosen by Ministers when they want to be photographed. However, whilst they get VIP service, patients are left waiting a minimum one hour (often longer) for booked appointments. Assessment nurses pre-operations are so rushed they don't have time to review patients' medical history, and can overlook anaemia, heart conditions etc. that should make a difference to operational procedures. Medical history can be totally dis-regarded, whatever the patient says, and with a major heart op in my history, I was prescribed Diclofenac - and issued with three large packets of drug. When busy, A & E sends patients home without finding out if they are able to manage. Although MRSA and other HIA are present, if a visitor who is having cancer or similar treatment asks if it is safe for them to visit, the ward sister says she can't say because of "patient confidentiality'. Locally, people often try and go elsewhere.
